Learn Ways to Keep Your Teen or Adult Child Safe

Are you worried about the safety of your teen or adult child with an intellectual or developmental disability as they grow up and want more independence in the community?

You’re invited to an innovative information session packed with practical advice so you can help your teen or adult child stay out of trouble and interact safely with the police.

Join safety specialist Emily Iland and her son Tom, a self-advocate with autism, to learn how to help keep your loved ones safe.

  • You’ll hear from two Sheriff’s Captains who are strong allies of the I/DD community.
  • Discover helpful local resources services and supports to assist your family, including behavioral services, crisis intervention specialists, and mental health services.
  • We’ll finish the evening with questions-and-answers.
